It is absolutely true that when it comes to attracting your dreams into reality, taking action matters the most. However, your strength, resilience, and clarity of dreams also play a crucial role in achieving them.
We all work hard in our lives, but sometimes we feel a lack of energy or disappointment when we don’t see instant results. We generally lack motivation and consistency midway in the process of our efforts. So what can we do to avoid this demotivation or inconsistency? Having a Vision Board is the answer.
A Vision Board is a crucial tool to work systematically and assuredly towards achieving your dreams. Vision boards are like making a list of things you want to make a part of your future life. The only thing is that a vision board is a visual representation of the things which you want to attract or manifest. A Vision Board is a collage representing our dreams. It includes cut-out images from newspapers, magazines, or printouts that inspire you to manifest those dreams in the future. A Vision Board acts as a tool to regain self awareness and self reflection which keeps you reminding of the things which you are aspiring to and it also builds indirect motivation within your subconscious mind to work towards those dreams and goals.
How Vision Boards Work:
In very simple words a vision board helps us to imagine how our future is going to look and when we start imagining a positive future it builds a good amount of positive emotion and optimism, the positive emotions work as a catalyst for working everyday towards our goal and optimism makes us believe that the things We are looking forward to it coming soon. It is a very powerful tool to help us stay focused and consistent for our dreams and it works as a key motivation to achieve all of them.
The Science Behind Vision Boards :
There are two psychological concepts which hold the scientific efficacy of a vision board among those two theories the one is called as self efficacy theory and the second one is known as reticular activating system ( RAS).
First understand what is self efficacy theory?
Psychologist Albert Bandura states that “the individuals who believe that they will achieve a goal that interests their abilities to do so are most likely to receive what they want.”
While looking at the visual representations of our goals our subconscious mind increases our self efficacy and becomes a constant reminder of our capabilities resulting in a boost of our confidence which strengthens our aspirations.
Coming to the Reticular activating system(RAS) the reticular activating system is a group of neurons which is located in the brain stem which functions to develop a focus or attention on anything. When we continuously and consistently look at certain visual things or images our reticular activating system prioritizes this information making these things transfer to our subconscious mind involuntarily. We become more aware of the positive opportunities which make us work towards our goals and unknowingly we move closer to our dreams.
How to Create a Vision Board
Creating a vision board is not just sticking pictures anonymously on a board but it is a combined effort of your thoughts, your understanding and your reflection towards your life. In order to create an effective vision board you need to keep certain things in mind which include identifying specific goals, collecting appropriate materials, assembling the cutouts in an aesthetic and appealing manner and reflecting and resonating with your vision board everyday.
So beginning with identifying your goal ask yourself where are you now and where do you want to be in your future? and when you get a precise answer, where do you want to get into your future list the things , places and the feelings that arrive in your mind.Choose simple specific and achievable goals which really resonate with you, because choosing anything out of the blue is not something that will work.
Choose things which are really important to you. Make your goals time bound and as specific as possible.
- Gather important materials.
- Take your time; you don’t need to make a Vision Board in a day.
- Collect appealing pictures or draw what you want.
- Assemble everything aesthetically.
After you are done collecting and drawing. sit in a peaceful space when your mind is calm and composed. Stick your cut out on your vision board making them look really pleasing and aesthetic. The most important thing is the placement of your vision board so be careful while placing it.Place it in a space where you spend most of your time so that directly or indirectly you can see your vision board everyday.
From your daily schedule take out some time to stand or sit near your vision board, look at it and reflect on it, resonate with it and keep updating your vision board as you achieve your goals. It is not just a collage which hangs on a wall simply for an aesthetic purpose but it’s a representation of your ambitions which can become your reality and it is meant to serve you as a reminder of your goals.
Integrating Your Vision Board into Daily Life
Manifesting something is all about focusing all your energy in that particular area of your life and making a vision board is like welcoming the possibilities and opportunities in the path of your future. It’s like agreeing that you are meant to achieve the things which you dream everyday. Take out a minute or so, close your eyes and visualize all the cut outs and images that are there on your vision board. Reflect on your feelings of happiness which you feel after thinking that those things are already there around you. Being present in that feeling, breathe and open your eyes, look at your vision board and say thank you to the universe and tell yourself that ‘everything I wish for is aligning with me.’
